Apply for the 2027 Ethiopian National Debate Team

Applications are open for the 2027 Ethiopian National Debate Team, following the nation's participation in the 34th World Schools Debating Championships in Nairobi and international tournaments across Asia and Europe. Eligible applicants must be 20 or younger by July 27, 2027, and be enrolled in an Ethiopian high school, studying secondary education abroad, or a recent graduate who has not entered university. Candidates must also commit to training two to three times weekly and attending the 2027 championships in Sofia, Bulgaria. A group of 30 to 40 students will complete a three-month training program, after which five debaters will be chosen to represent Ethiopia at the world championships. Prospective candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in research, academic learning, and teamwork.
